Name: Dmitriy Ivanov
Role: Outreach Specialist/SEO Technician
A little about myself:
I was born and raised in a country that does not exist anymore: it has broken up into 15 smaller countries. I was 22 at the time. I had just graduated from the University of Railway Transport. Suddenly, it turned out that there was no future in my country for me or for my kid. A few years later, together with my wife and five-year-old son, I immigrated to Australia, where life began from scratch. Different people, different habits, language, food, way of living. I worked many jobs: I delivered pizza, delivered morning newspapers, cleaned houses and public toilets, I worked at a construction site, and at the same time I studied at Swinburne University of Technology doing my Postgraduate Diploma. I knew it was going to be hard at the beginning.
Today I am a member of the WME team and proud of it.
When was the first time you heard about the internet?
The first time I saw a website, I was curious about how people created them, so I started to dig into it a little more. I learnt about web development and was wondering why no one was visiting the websites I built. I considered how Google works, and that’s what led me to SEO.
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The realisation that my work is an important contribution to the whole WME process. It’s rewarding when I see my clients ranking.
I play classical guitar, sometimes I write poetry and songs, I like reading and travel. I love sports.
I represented Australia in an international fencing competition in Tokyo in 2009.
