Our Favourite Spooky Campaigns of 2015

We’ve said it once we’ll say it again, real time marketing and capitalising on pop culture and current events – it works. So, in today’s post, we’ll looking at what brands took the Halloween theme and successfully turned it into an amazing marketing opportunity for their business in 2015.

Halloween Whopper

Hungry Jacks rolled out some A1 flavoured black buns for Halloween, aptly naming the creation the A1 Halloween Whopper. In a strange and kind of perfect turn of events, the creation has led to an unfortunate side effect and an unintentional – and hilarious – viral hashtag. Enter; #GreenPoop

Starbucks

Suckers for a pun, naturally Starbucks’s Fang-tastic new vampire inspired Starbucks Frappuccino is one of our personal favourites. In a press release rolled out by the brand, they revealed that the new drink ( sure to be a hit with Dracula and his friends) is made with white chocolate sauce, milk, ice, mocha sauce, whipped cream and raspberry syrup. Rolled out in Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand, the drink will be available from the 28th – 31st.

Cheetos

Cheetos delvers its own version of ‘trick or treat’ in a video advertising their limited addition Halloween packs. In this particular video, their third release, we see unsuspecting families and civilians innocently awaiting the delivery of their groceries. Not ones to take the fun out of anything, we’ll let you watch the video for yourself to see what ~*spooky*~ things happen next…

Pizza Hut

If there’s one thing we love just as much as we love digital marketing, its pizza. So, naturally, Pizza Hut’s video depiction of Halloween trick or treat etiquette took the cake (or pizza…) for us. If you’re interested some trick or treat inspiration, or you’re just after a Friday arvo giggle, we recommend a watch:

Tesco

Our final pick is a real goodie, with Tesco getting super creative in the name of customer engagement. Tesco went all out with their decorations, costumes and even some mateship special effects, giving customers a real scare in the name of Halloween and filming it all on hidden cameras. Enjoy!

We thoroughly enjoyed trawling through the various attempts at Halloween themed advertising that 2015 produced, here’s a little glimpse of what our office looked like today as we did our very best to get in the Halloween spirit!
