It’s time to take a sneak-peek into our company culture once again. This week, we’re heading over to our design team to meet Mark. As design lead, Mark’s innate creative skills often travel beyond our office walls.

From his accessories collections to his unwavering perfectionism, get to know Mark below.

Role: Design Lead

A little about myself:

Happy, energetic and always love being around people. I go by the name Sporty or Sporto! As the leader of the design department, I try to bring a good energy to the guys and try to push the team further and further. I am always willing to learn, but also love the idea of sharing my knowledge with others. I love a challenge, whether it’s work-related or not, and can tend to get competitive in almost anything I do, from my working environment to basketball games and even the very occasional drinking competitions held with the lads. I am also known to be a bit of a perfectionist and have minor OCD, especially when it comes to things I love and have a passion for. I also follow the NBA (Denver) and Rugby League (Storm) and try to watch and keep up with all that jazz as much as I can.

When was the first time you heard about internet?

Honestly, I have no idea – I was four years old! I remember my parents ranting and raving about when we first had it in our household and them spending entire days in front of the computer screen. I strictly remember being picked up late from school due to my mum losing track of time being on the computer. I was okay in the end and copped a milkshake from McDonald’s on the way home to cover the trauma I suffered.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Pay day… But in all seriousness, I really enjoy being able to give creative solutions to our clients. Being able to put forward my ideas and experiences to help make a business’s online presence stronger makes all the hard work, rejected designs and headaches worth it. In my creative design career, I have continued to learn, grow and move forward with creative technology and I just love it! I consider myself very lucky to be able to have something that I am passionate about, and that I love to work hard at.

Hobbies:

I have been playing ball for over 20 years. I just love playing and it helps settle the nerves and stresses of my day, not to mention it helps keep the beer belly away. I also love watches; I just love how detailed the craftsmanship, and when it comes to brands I can’t go past a IWC or Nixon – I own about 30 of them. Other areas that interest me are my car (obviously), a cheeky gamble and a good ol’ parma and a pint with the boys after a basketball game.

Interesting fact:

I have around 60 pairs of kicks. Just love kicks and the entire Jordan brand.

And I have a phat staffy named Scout whom I love immensely!
