The Gift of Giving
In our previous Christmas blog post, we gave you some handy tips and advice for making the most of one of the biggest days on the retail calendar. You’re welcome. In this blog post, although the topic still ties in with the festive season, our motivations are very different. Christmas is a time of giving, of spending time with family and friends, and being thankful for all that we have. However, although celebrated the world over, Christmas can also spur on thoughts for those less fortunate than ourselves, and these thoughts weigh particularly heavy on us here at WME.
As one of Australia’s fastest growing companies, we can’t help but feel that we have a responsibility to give back to the wider community. In fact, as this blog post goes live, we’re currently sorting through the pile of contributions coming in from our staff for this year’s Smith Family Toy and Book Drive. A pile that will surely continue to grow between now and the summer break (go team!).
Some of the charities and initiatives we’re passionate about include, but are not limited to: Melbourne’s Biggest Morning Tea, the Red Cross Blood Drive, Helping Hoops and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. We understand how this may be misunderstood as a cry for attention or validation…
“Hey, look at us! We do good things etc. etc.” but it’s not like that at all.
We realise that our blog gets a pretty diverse mix of readers, from the general public, to small and big business owners alike. We’re pretty proud of the amount of growth and support it’s gained over the last couple months, and so, we had a thought. What if we could use this platform to inspire others to give back this Christmas too? This call to action (CTA) may be a far cry from the ones you’re used to WME making. However, in a lot of ways, this one means so much more that any of those that have proceeded it.
So, as you prepare for this Christmas, at the office and at home, please spare a thought for those individuals and families who aren’t as blessed as yourself. Whether you can contribute in a small or large way, to one of these organisations or another that’s close to your heart, there is no better gift than the gift of giving (we know it’s a cliché but it’s true…).
